Covering Costs

When does provincial health care contribute to surgery?

Health care, such as OHIP, may help cover the costs of your surgery if it’s medically necessary, but you need to make sure you do it the right way. As well, different provinces have slightly different regulations, so look into them in advance.

Here’s a list of procedures that are considered medical in nature, which is why provincial health care plans can offset the cost in the first place.

- Breast reduction If you have a documented history of back, shoulder or neck pain

- Nasal surgery If a deviated septum is causing breathing issues

- Panniculectomy If an overhanging apron of fat and tissue is causing skin irritation
