Nominee for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama Motion Picture for her role as Elizabeth Sloane in Miss Sloane, Jessica Chastain made waves on the red carpet at last Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards. In Prada and Piaget, Chastain walked the red carpet like a seasoned pro, showing off some décolletage and gorgeous collarbones. Her makeup was stunning and simple with a hint of blush and a rose-pink lip and her hair was pulled back into a fishtail braided bun, topping off her sophisticated look.

Luckily, we were able to get the details on the 39-year-old’s coveted hairstyle from celeb stylist Renato Campora for Moroccanoil, the hair care brand that pioneered the argan oil trend.

Hair How-To: Modern Braided Bun

  1. Start by applying a dime-sized amount of Moroccanoil Treatment ($47, and professional salons) for a perfectly smooth base for styling.
  2. Apply a volumizing mousse, working it into the hair starting at mid-shaft and working it out to the ends.
  3. Next, blow dry hair using a round brush to smooth and straighten. Apply a small amount of gel to tame any flyaways or baby hairs.
  4. Part hair to one side (whatever is your best side!) and style it into a low bun using a hair elastic to hold it in place. Make sure you leave out a piece to use for the braid!
  5. With the hair that you left out of the bun, style a tight fishtail braid and wrap it around the hair band and secure the end with bobby pins.
  6. Last step: Finish with a spritz of strong-hold hairspray to ensure everything stays in place and frizz-free.
